Texila Day Excursion

TAXILA – DAY EXCURSION

0830 Hrs.                      Leave for Taxila.

0930 Hrs.                      Arrive Taxila.

0930-1300 Hrs.             Visit Taxila Museum and Archeological sites most of these are located around Taxila Museum. For over 1000 years(600 B.C to 500 A.D) Taxila remained a focal point of education and Buddhism in the days of Buddhist glory. There are over 50 archeological sites scattered over a radius of 30 K.M around Taxila. Some of the most important sites are Dharmarajika Stupa and Monastery (300 B.C – 200 A.D), Bhir Mound (600-200B.C), Sirkap (200-600A.D) and famous Buddhist University of Julian. A museum comprising sections with rich archeological funds of Taxila arranged in chronological order and property labeled has been established close to these sites. It is one of the most well maintained site museum of Pakistan.

1300-1400 Hrs.           Lunch at PTDC Motel, Taxila.

1400-1630 Hrs.           Visit Khanpur Dam.

1630 Hrs.                    Drive back to Islamabad/Rawalpindi
